The complaint states that Perplexity used its Comet browser and associated AI assistants to access user data without authorization, deliberately disguising automated actions as human behavior to evade detection. Amazon asserts that the company's system poses a risk to customer data security and had repeatedly warned Perplexity to cease such operations, but received no response.

On December 1, 2025, the High Court of Justice of England and Wales (EWHC) held a consolidated hearing regarding the patent dispute between Nokia, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), and Paramount. During the proceedings, Nokia requested the court to reconsider and revoke a unilateral “counter-injunction” previously granted to Warner Brothers Discovery.

These patents are all standard-essential patents, identical in type to the 59 patents LG sold to Xiaomi in January. Codecs compress and decompress video, or encode and decode it, enabling playback on smartphones and televisions.

The dispute dates back to 2019, when CSC accused TCS of continuing to use CSC's proprietary software and trade secrets after terminating its partnership with CSC's subsidiary Transamerica. In its lawsuit, CSC alleged that multiple Transamerica employees who joined TCS gained unauthorized access to CSC software and utilized the materials to assist TCS in developing a competing insurance platform.

This marks the first outcome of the SEP meeting hosted by WIPO in September. Several signatories issued statements, including Nokia. Nokia expressed hope that the commitment would help reassure stakeholders concerned about IoT SMEs potentially becoming entangled in SEP litigation. This lawsuit is part of a long-running patent dispute between Apple and Masimo. Masimo previously accused Apple of poaching key technical personnel after collaboration talks in 2013 and stealing its technology for use in the Apple Watch. In 2023, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that multiple Apple Watch models posed patent infringement risks, forcing Apple to modify product features to avoid an import ban.
