On 22 May 2026, the German computer company ParTec filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Lenovo Group at the Düsseldorf Regional Division of the Unified Patent Court (UPC), asserting two patents relating to high-performance computing. These two patents are identical to those currently being asserted by ParTec against NVIDIA.

Meanwhile, ParTec has lodged an appeal against the judgment handed down by the Munich Regional Division of the UPC on 11 March 2026 in its case against NVIDIA. In that judgment, the Munich Regional Division upheld NVIDIA’s interpretation of the claims for one of the patents. ParTec was originally in a favourable position regarding the validity of the patents; should the appeal succeed in securing a modification of the claim interpretation, this could alter the course of the case. Another case between ParTec and NVIDIA will continue, with a hearing scheduled for 16 September 2026.

Furthermore, Microsoft and ParTec reached a settlement on 12 May 2026, on the eve of a hearing at the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
