On September 5, 2025, WiFi router manufacturer TP-Link filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Huawei in the High Court of Justice of England and Wales (EWHC). No prior patent infringement lawsuits by Huawei against TP-Link have been identified.

Huawei holds a substantial portfolio of WiFi 6 standard essential patents (SEPs) and has reached amicable licensing agreements with multiple companies. In January 2025, Netgear filed a lawsuit over Huawei's patents but ultimately settled by accepting a license from the Sisvel patent pool.

TP-Link is not the only company pursuing FRAND determination in the UK. Acer, Asus, and Hisense have taken similar litigation strategies against Nokia; MediaTek against Huawei; and Amazon against InterDigital.

Notably, Germany's Munich Regional Court explicitly stated in July 2025 its opposition to using foreign courts to enforce global licensing terms.

The specific claims in the lawsuit and Huawei's response have not yet been made public.
